Sony Will Direct Two-Thirds Of Its R&D To Service Games By 2025

According to a new report from Nikkei Network, Sony plans to spend $2.13 billion on research and development in video games during the fiscal year ending in March next year, and this amount is more than double the company’s game development budget during the last generation of home appliances.

Game development currently accounts for 40% of Sony’s research and development budget, and 60% of that money will be allocated by 2025 to service games. As we know, Sony plans to launch at least 10 service games by 2026, and this does not necessarily mean a decrease in the budget allocated to the rest of the games, but it does mean no Undoubtedly increasing the share of service games of resources and attention.
